PhD students

We are always looking for bright and motivated scientists that are curious about mechanisms and prevention of cardiovascular disease. We work with several national and international collaborations, and we aim to expose our students to a wide range of techniques and labs, networking opportunities and we really support attendance to conferences. 

Our supervisory style is very hands on in the beginning, giving the student every opportunity for training and plenty feedback so they can grow into amazing independent thinkers and researchers. 

 
The Monash Doctoral Program is a 3-year research-intensive course that involves some coursework directed for career development. You are expected to do cutting edge research and develop independent projects, read a lot of papers and be on top of the research published in our field, write commentaries, reviews and research papers, perform experiments in the lab, present in conferences, but we also hope you can have fun and make some friends for life. in our lab you will receive plenty of training and advice on how to achieve all of the above and thrive!

 

While experience in the techniques we work with is not essential, it is essential to be a team player, be motivated and willing to learn. 

PhD scholarships for Australian and international students are available through the School of Biological Sciences and Monash University. These scholarships are very competitive and cover living expenses and waive tuition fees.
